How about Edgar. I am getting ready to start one. I saw one a knitting friend made and it's really neat.

The Purl Scarf from the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book is in the interesting yarn choice category. It's knit with two strands of contrasting yarn (thick and thin) and it's knit one, purl one the whole way through--soooooo mindless!

I like to knit at restaurants too, but I've received some strange looks for doing so...

laurie

hmm...toe up socks (perhaps out of jitterbug for interest) leap to mind *grin*

Gina

Oh how much do I love your concept of a high-fiber diet! Delicious!

The Touch me is absolutely fabulous after washing & drying - you will love the velvety feel of it!

For restaurant knitting, I often have a scarf in progress, usually an easy mindless garter, or easy cable. What about squares for a blanket?

susan

i vote for jitterbug..........they are easy and fast.

I snorted at "high-fiber diet"...heck yeah! Now *that's* Good Eats!

My current mindless item is a Baby Genius Burp Cloth from Mason-Dixon Knitting (my friend-coworker's daughter is due any day now). I've also done a Baby Bib O' Love, adorable and similarly mindless...both are small, portable, and can be done with inexpensive yarn. Any babies to knit for, other than your precious granddaughter? :)

Kelli

I like plain garter stitch scarves. They're always appreciated by someone. :)

Great idea....I have never even thought of bringing my knitting in and I always have a mindless knit in the car.

Kellie

Hehe, I was just restaraunt knitting on Monday... and then movie theater lobby knitting... and then classroom knitting yesterday. :o)

Abbey

That's my kind of a title.. two of my favorite things.... knitting and steak!
I've KIP'd in quite a few restaurants too!

Lorette

My favorite restaurant knitting is a sock. It is mindless knitting, and fits easily in a purse. My husband has even gotten over being embarrassed by it.

You know what amazes me about resteraunt knitting? The amount of people who say "I have always wanted to learn how to knit" or "Wow, I could never do that!"

Wait, wasn't I one of those people about two years ago?

Mindless knitting for me, socks! Round and round forever.

Julie

Anxious to hear how your Touch Me scarf turns out! I've been eyeing for some time.
Loved your "new normal" post - knit bloggers are the best!Unfortunately as we age - so do our families - especially our parents...it can be a difficult time - been there.

Barbara

Oh yeah, to a non-knitter, a pure garter stitch scarf is a miracle! I think any and everything knit is a treasure!
