Regular quarter = 1/4 yard of, say, 44" fabric = 9" by 44". Fat quarter = 1/2 yard of 22" fabric = 18" x 22". They split the fabric along the fold and then cut a half yard. Same yardage, different configuration. Better for cutting shapes since it's longer. I like your Mokuba scarf. I have a post last week about substituting Sulky Solvy et al. for the actual Mokuba kit. It's less expensive and just as nice.

You have been busy knitting up a storm! I've been busy joining knit and crochet alongs.

I guess we are all enablers. I joined my first KAL for the French Market Bag because I saw it first on your blog.

I'm right there with you on opting out of the current sock in the Six Sox KAL. I just imagined all the tiny little beads getting embedded in my carpet and the loss of valuable space in my apartment that would of course be taken up by all the new beading accessories that I would just have to have. Ignorance is bliss, as they say. And well, the pattern didn't grab me. Lovely scarves, socks and mitts. And thanks for the link to Mimi Verylong. I just happen to have about 500 yards of laceweight alpaca from the Michigan Fiber Fest burning a hole in my stash...

What will you do? You are too funny. That's a dream come true! If only...

yeah basically a "fat quarter" is 1/4 yard cut horizontal instead of the regular vertical cut. good for small projects. :)

yes you have entered a whole new stashing arena and fabric stash can build up very very very fast!

Hey there Chicky! Sounds like you've been very busy! I know what you mean about wanting to savour your vacation- I think I spent 2 days in a row in my jammies and it was wonderful!

Concerning the quilting, I'm an ex-quilter(ish- my machine and I aren't on speaking terms) so i have quite a stash of bali fat quarters if you feel like a trade. I always liked the bali hand dyed because of the colors. I have lots of other stuff too, so let me know if you're interested. I think I'm going to make a trip up to TB's on Jan 7th- maybe we could meet and I can just bring a bunch.
Have a Merry Christmas, and enjoy your vacation!
Linda

I'm a new knitter and a newer blogreader. Linked here through purljam, yours is one of the few blogs I'll take time off knitting to read. Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts down on...ummm...pixels?
