speaking of the addiction and the need to knit. . .did I leave the pattern you gave me in Lynn's car? I'm desperate to start (all right, I'll admit, I already have) but I need to find the pattern before I botch it up greatly. I can't seem to find it in ALL the yarn I bought yesterday. Instead I look up another Ruana on-line so that I could get those needles moving.

Just keep knitting, just keep knitting, just keep knitting, knitting, knitting!

ann

you are absolutely right Sharon -- we never talk about our pattern stashes and mine takes up so much more space than my yarn stash!

Emma

I just got the Cornelia Hamilton book.I collect the books and patterns as inspiration.A great way to waste a few hours is to browse the knitting library.Very enjoyable.

Oh Sharon, it is all so true. The addiction just grows in leaps and bounds and the computers make it even worse because we have access to so many more sites. I'll see something that someone else is working on and just have to buy the specific yarn for that! Even though I literally have rooms full of yarn already. Plus I buy yarn that is beautiful and a good buy and then I forget what I bought it for or forget I have it.

But I derive pleasure just out of fondling my yarns. Is that sick?

I need to practice some serious self control! But at least I know I'm not alone in my fetish!

Larry

I just tell myself it's good for the economy. I'm a little worried though. I have no yarn acquisition trips planned for this week and haven't bought a book for at least two. I'm just not doing my part. Must be the election and the fact that gasoline is rapidly approaching the $2.50/gal. mark around here.

Rob

Thanks for altering "yarn shop ladies" to include fellas. (grin) We enable as bad (or worse) than most, I'm sure.

As always, great to see you and your projects in progress--I have great faith and confidence in you that the alpaca sweater will be fantastic! KNIT ON WITH CONFIDENCE!

i really enjoyed this post :)

You said it so well. It can be anything about knitting that gives you the bug. I used to collect patterns but more and more it's the yarn first...then the pattern...well, that's not true as I see what others are knitting on the blogs and I want what they have but only if the yarn is wonderful, too. So it's an ongoing thing...the desire...the need. We must knit!

Bron

Once again you've hit the nail...er...stash on the head! I've put myself on a short yarn hiatus, but I don't think that should apply to my patterns too. A girl can't go cold turkey, after all.

I have a $25.00 gift cert. to Amazon & am in the process of deciding which knitting book(s) I really, really need. ha! Ann Budd's new one is sounding like a must have....hmmmm.....

mindy

OK, I only have 2 shelves of patterns, but they're getting a little tight - - I may have to shift over to a third pretty soon.

Especially after Rhinebeck. Eek.
