SECRET STUFF

For your visual pleasure today, I have a photo of The Keyboard Biologist, hard at work helping with inventory at Threadbear. This is what knitters do for fun. They leave their home in Chicago, come to a yarn store in Lansing, Michigan, and work their fannies off helping to get the boys up and running. It was great to meet Theresa; some readers may remember my rendition of the Blue-Line Felted Bag, which is one of her patterns. Totally cool...check her blog for her pattern page.

I'm working on the first package to my Secret Pal. I have a variety of fun and fuzzy surprises planned, but of course I can't give any details here, just in case she reads my blog. But Amy, at Threaded Thoughts posted a great entry giving information about herself that might be useful to her secret pal. I decided to do a brief version of that kind of post, just in case my secret pal is lurking around looking for clues about me. Subtlety is not my strong suit!

So....random things about me that may be helpful:
I respond strongly to color....to lively blends of color, put together in harmonious ways. Brown is not a color.

Wool makes me itchy if it's on my upper torso. However, it doesn't bother my feet at all. I have tough feet.

I am an organizer, a list-maker, a gadgeteer.

I keep my flamingo collection in my office at school. The tackier the better. Kids love 'em.

I stay away from scented products because perfumes often make me sneeze. A lot.

Chocolate. But of course.
Chocolate mint. Even better.
Dark chocolate. Best of all.

I read. I dance. I love music.
I hate exercise. I do it anyway. Sort of.

I detest cheese. Yes, I really detest it, in just about every form. Even cheesecake. Go ahead and sneer. In my next life, I am definitely going to have to be a cheese freak like every other person on the planet. It's been a social liability all my life in this cheesy world we live in. (On the other hand, skinless and boneless sardines packed in oil or water, and mixed with mustard, vinegar, and lemon juice is one of the all-time best culinary delights to be had on this planet. True, absolutely true. Try it.)

I am attracted to paper...unusual paper....useful paper...paper products of all types. Put me in a stationary store, and I am content to browse for a long time.

I like quirky. Not edgy. Just quirky.

There, that should do it. Hey Secret Pal out there....Hi!

Hey! It was awesome to meet you today, too! If you ever get to Chicago, let me know. We've got some fun knitters in the area, but no stores quite like ThreadBear!

Sharon, I'm glad you hate cheese. Means there's more cheese for me!

Sarah/habsgirl

Apart from my husband you are the only non cheese eater I know of.He has, very nobley grated my cheese when I've been ill ! It,strangely, inhibits my cheese buying.I love cheese ! Love, love, love it ! Sardines are good too. :0)

p.s. Nice photo of Theresa.

Mustard, vinegar, AND lemon juice? It doesn't end up tasting too acidic?

We have so many things in common. I don't like cheese either--never grew up eating eat--because it's not really a staple in Asian diets :-) I LOVE chocolate mint of any kind. And I'm with you on the exercis thing--sort of exercise is when I stand while I'm knitting!

I agree - we do seem to have much in common. I'm totally with you in a "paper" store! And I could have written this line myself: "I am an organizer, a list-maker, a gadgeteer."

I am so jealous that I'm not close to the new ThreadBear location!

Thanks so much for all the info... I've got a package all ready to send out to you in the next couple of days... but now I have ideas for another one! :) BTW, I don't like cheese either - except on pizza and mac and cheese. :)

Ah, but have you tried sardines with Tabasco? Heaven on Earth, full stop.

Sorry about the duplicate trackback...I'm trying to figure out how it works and wanted to reference your post. Hopefully we'll run into each other in Lansing again sometime!
