At book club last night, everyone was discussing their exciting summer travel plans. Emily is going to Mexico. Pat is going to Thailand and Viet Nam. Tina is going to Italy. I’m going to ….. Indianapolis.
We have a custom in this book club of many years standing, to bring back bookmarks from our travels for the group. I have an outstanding collection of bookmarks due to this tradition. Imagine the exotic new bookmarks we will get this summer from Mexico and Thailand and Italy and….Indianapolis.
I have friends who are traveling soon, or have traveled recently to Peru, Lithuania, Australia, and China. My very own dearly beloved SO went to El Salvador. One of my own sons is in Africa.
And I’m going to …. Indianapolis.
Avid contradancers know that when I say I’m going to Indianapolis this weekend to dance to the Groovemongers, and Ron Buchanan is calling, that this is a big deal. Avid knitters know that when I say I’m going to St. Charles, Illinois later this summer for Stitches Midwest, that this is a big deal. Avid mothers and fathers know that when I say I’m going to Spokane next month to see my son and daughter-in-law, that this is a big deal.
My big deals are feeling like pretty small potatoes all of a sudden. I’ll just have to have a rip-roaring great time in …. Indianapolis.
THE KNITTING CONTENT PORTION OF THIS BLOG
Emily has redeemed herself for her forgetfulness of last week (see last entry). This is my summer vacation celebration gift.
Pretty nifty, isn't it? I have wonderful objects to represent my passion for reading…..
But this is my very first knitting-related item of décor. Thanks again, Emily.
On a progress note, I continue to forge ahead on everything, but I’ve finished nothing. On the other hand, I’ll have lots of car travel this weekend. I’ll get a lot of knitting done going to …. Indianapolis.
