ann

that sounds like fun!! is contradance related to square dancing?

Patty

Have a great time! But have chosen which handknit socks you'll wear? The variegated blue soaker will be lovely, the other projects will wait patiently until you return. But please don't twirl with knitting needles in your hands : )

Amy

Or only twirl with plastic needles :-)

Have fun at the Twirl!

greta

oh I LOVE that bag pattern. I have been so pleased in the past with everything from just one more row....I will have to search for that pattern.
Have a Glorious time at camp! Do you need me to send you a care package with chocolate or anything?

Sharon

Ann, contra has some similarities to square dance...mainly a caller, and some of the moves (like a do-si-do). Differences are: always done to live music, old-timey/celtic-flavored music, more flow. After the walk-thru and the first few pattern repeats, the caller stops and you just dance. You and your partner dance with everyone in the line. Not necessary to come with a partner..you're expected to change partners every dance. If you saw Titanic, the dancing at the party down below in the hold...that was contradancing.

Greta, thanks for care package offer! Actually, we get fed extremely well at dance camps, and chocolate is considered one of the major food groups. Blister pads...now those are useful! Foot massage...bliss, except after an evening of dancing, my feet are SO smelly!

Patty and Amy,one of the dangers to innocent partners during a twirl is long hair, particularly in ponytails. Sometimes we whip around so fast, we lash our partner with quite a bit of force. But I'll leave the needles in my bag when I'm dancing, I promise.

i love the sunburst sling bag!

did you buy just the pattern or the whole kit? where is the soy silk from? it's BEAUTIFUL!

Vera

Your event looks like fun, and I noticed an ad in my local paper for classes.

I've only been making socks for a few months now, but unlike all of the other handmade items I create, I haven't been able to give any away, just yet.

I've just finished a broadripple sock in Regia yarn, and it would be very difficult to give it away. It would be even harder if I used Interlacements.
