how wonderful!! I am going to stop at the library to see if they have either of those books! I too, cannot seem to put them down and will sometimes ration the books. Not because of guilt, but simply to get some sleep!

I just bought this book and now can't wait to read it based on your recommendation. I read her first book several years ago and tried to get my book club to do it. Then Oprah picked it. My book club leader was embarrassed that she hadn't listened to me when I first read it. It's hard to put down the knitting but this book might be worth it! LOL

Ahh reading and the years of pleasure it has brought to my life. It helps that I am married to a bookmobile driver. I remember well being a library rat as a kid. I too would chafe at the restrictions on the amount of books that could be checked out at one time. Finally my mother sent a note giving me permission to branch out from the "children's section" of our small town library since I had pretty much read everything there. Back in those days (60's) it was somewhat shocking for a child of 8 or 9 to be reading from the "adult" section of the library. These days, my passion for knitting has me listening to some books on tape.

Hehee- my library card is good for up to 99 books and 6 audios. Talk of heaven! I take out as much as I can carry! Which is a lot, I can tell you! LOL

I have those same memories of library visits. And I ALWAYS had a book with me in middle school and high school. I cannot think of one time in my life that I did not have a book-in-progress.

I am intrigued by your review of this novel. Sounds wonderful.

What a good book recommendation! I'll put it on my library request list immediately. Your description reminded me of this book, which is one of my favorites, and highly recommended: "Saint Maybe" by Anne Tyler.
