I made my first sweater out of Lion Brand Homespun. Yuck. The yarn is just barely passable in an afghan and just plain yucky in a sweater. It's also a bear to work with. My first real socks were a Nancy Bush design, "Conwy". I loved them until I tried them on-my gauge was wrong and they were too, too tight for my tootsies. Since those early errors I have been very lucky that all my projects have turned out!

Too bad about that top-the design looks very flattering otherwise, have you thought of trying again with another type of yarn?

I can relate to the story about the top, also. I made a beautiful domino vest. It is probably the best knitted item I have ever made, but.... it makes me look wider than a house. I wear it anyway, though, since I worked so hard on it.

I love the top, so sorry it isn't just right. Beautiful colors...

I keep wanting to knit that furry skirt on Knitty from last summer... the yoke is from a sewn pair of shorts and then the skirt goes below... in green, like grass. Would go so well with our ukulele stuff. Now, I'm pretty darned trim but I am afraid about the skirt. I'd have to spend money and time before finding out if it looked good. Yet I keep going back to it, longing for that skirt. Silly me, how often could one wear a green-grass skirt anyway???
